1966 Chevrolet Nova SS Barn Find
By John Simms
This is one of those rare finds found in a barn which has been stored for the last 32 years.
Considering its storage conditions, it still has a lot to offer especially being a true 118 VIN car.
The car is said to have been originally painted Lemonwood yellow, now a kind of reddish colour which would have been nice to have left it in its original state, but unfortunately that’s what you get here folks.
The paintwork has obviously seen better days, so will probably need a respray anyway, unless you wanted to keep a kind of rat rod look.
There doesn’t seem to be any rust on the vehicle, at least from the provided images and the shot of the underside of the car looks in good condition for its age and storage. There may be horrors hiding underneath, but from what we can see up to now the bodywork looks solid.
The engine is the anomaly here with the ad. saying it may be a ‘327 SBC’ but as the VIN is blocked out, there is no way of telling for definite, without getting the actual numbers off the seller.
The engine also hasn’t been started, so it could be in any condition and with what looks like a manual converted to an automatic you may have your work cut out when it comes to the powertrain.
Chevy Nova’s are great platforms for restoring back to stock condition or even morphing into a dragstrip monster, but this example will need a lot of work no matter which direction you take it.
Currently at a bit of $6350, you still have a reasonable vehicle here, just hoping that the bid doesn’t go up too much.
