1963 Buick Riviera Custom
Transmission: Automatic 2 speed Dynaflow
Engine: 401 Nailhead, rebuilt with a mild cam.
I feel from the outset here I have to start doing some justification for choosing this 1963 Buick Riviera as one of the picks for today and that’s obviously because of the paint job.
It’s one of those ‘love it or hate it’ moments. You’ll either immediately go, ‘yeah’ or ‘urgghh’, but which ever reaction you went for, this ride could be the basis of a good project.
The seller lists not only the good points, but some of the bad points, (which is rare) and it looks like you’ll probably able to get this ride for a decent price.
This particular Buick Riviera would make a great resto mod or similar and not too much work to get it into reasonable condition.
Love or hate the paint job, this could make you a great future custom with not too much work.
The floors and trunk were replaced.
The door handles, emblems and body trim were eliminated.
The hood was louvered and looks awesome with the flame tips leading your eyes to them.
New exhaust with Cherry Bomb mufflers.
New gas tank with new lines.
OPGI white headliner and the all new white vinyl seat interior.
New door panels.
The car sits 3 inches lower with the fresh Jamco lowering kit, which consists of shorter coils and shocks all around.
Brand new blacked out 15 inch American Racing rims and new thin whitewall tires
Bad points at this time:
-No weatherstripping installed or included. Rubber gasket on the front small vent windows is brittle.
-Needs front end alignment with the new wheels and tires. During braking the car shifts a little to the left.
-The trunk is bare, no spare and or anything else in there. I do have several original parts that I will throw in like the door wood panel with the molding for the front and rear, the original brown steering wheel, and some trim gaskets. I will also include the “original” drip rails with an all new felt kit (still in the box).
-Some lights might not function at this time because either I have not updated the bulbs and or not connected them. The factory harnesses and fuse boxes are in place (no bird’s nests).
-The front grille and or bumpers were not re-chromed. I will include the front headlight grilles, trim and lights too!
-Wipers arms are not installed. The wiper motor does run when you turn the wiper knob on the dash.
