1959 Corvette Purple People Eater!
Engine: 290hp fuel-injected 283
Transmission: 4 speed manual.
Auction: Barrett-Jackson, Scottsdale 2016.
This incredible looking 1959 MKIII Corvette won the 1959 SCCA National Championship in the B/Production class, driven by Jim Jeffords.
The awesome, non-factory paint job came courtesy of Nickey body shop, to make the car standout from the rest of the pack at the time.
The car was sold into obscurity in 1961, to be sold again in 1974 to Chip Miller and restorer Ken Heckert.
Originally a white bodied and black interior car, it saw many modifications to become a race and then restored after its racing days to what you see today.
For the full back story of the car, read more here.
More than anything, this is probably one of the most beautiful Corvettes we have ever seen and probably one of the most distinctive.
I don’t know if it’s the colour, the combination of a few different types of styling or just the car in general, it sure looks just hypnotise you.
It will be very interesting what this car eventually goes for auction, but whoever is the lucky next owner of this vehicle can spend many a day musing upon its beauty.
