It is true that few NASCAR vehicles survive after racing and this particular car almost saw the crusher after sitting in a field until the early 90s.
There are arguably only few of these cars left in the world, this car being one of the finest examples.
George Swartz, the current owner, bought the car from an elderly gentleman after he passed away, saving the car before it was scrapped.
It’s all too common nowadays to see cars of this pedigree that had a time in their past when nobody wanted them and they could only be seen as cars to be junked. Amazing from today’s perspective, Butler was a time when old was just another word for redundant and worthless.
Thank God there are observant muscle car funds in the world who saw these vehicles for what they really are, keeping them entertained until the rest of the world caught on.
If you would like to be the next custodian of this fantastic vehicle, then check out the Barrett Jackson auction on August 6-8th. You won’t be disappointed.
