They say car competitions and testing have been around since the first cars rolled off the production line. The problem is, there’s not much video footage to back this up.

This rare video footage from 1966 shows 4 hot rodders of the day, including Ronnie Sox, each testing the latest muscle car offerings – a 1966 Ford Fairlane 390, a 1966 Pontiac GTO 389, a 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle 396 and a 1966 Plymouth Sattelite 426 Hemi.

The test is mixed in with other event footage, like Sox in his 1966 Barracuda in the C/Fuel Dragster class, way before the days of ‘funny cars.’
