Dodge Charger Fuses American And German Engineering
By Dave Ashton
To some, the mere thought of putting anything but an American V8 engine into a muscle car is heresy, but this is just the case here with this 1968 Dodge Charger which is a hybrid between US and German ways of thinking. French drifter Alexandre Claudin has taken the best of both worlds infuse them into a fantastic roadgoing race and drifting machine.
If you step back and just look at how you can possibly make the best of all worlds, this is what has been done here with a E39 BMW 4.9L S62 V8 engine with a Porsche Cayenne Turbo rear suspension. BMW are known for their rear wheel excitement, even to this day , and irrelevant of the bloodlines, it’s an interesting experiment to see what machine like this is capable of.
From the short video it’s clear that this is a monstrous machine with loads of power and roadgoing abilities. The Daytona wing on the rear of the car adds to the muscle car visuals and it will be interesting to know exactly how much downforce this actually goes in reality. Maybe more experiments like this are needed to take the best of all era and areas and fuse them together. In this instance it’s clear they have made a mighty machine.
