A 2017 Dodge Challenger Cobra? Not Happening.
Websites, forums and message boards have been going on red alert recently after the news was put out that when Dodge finally finish production of the Viper, they will start producing a Challenger Cobra model.
Various engine configurations have been announced, such as a turbocharged V-6 engine, which Dodge may produce at some point in the future, but the ‘BS’ barometer started peaking a little for a number of reasons.
The most obvious is the ‘Cobra’ name tag which has always been a Ford thing. 2017 is just too early for this sort of announcement and with the 707hp Hellcat Hemi in both the Challenger and in the Charger still doing immensely well, why would this be overshadow with a Twin Turbo V6 engine?
In essence, the story ranks with those that you hear of a new Dodge Daytona being released or a new Plymouth Superbird.
There may be variants and copies out there, but no official release on the horizon, especially with Cobra in the name.
Then again, the Viper has the Copperhead edition so why not a Challenger Copperhead? I may invent one now as we speak.
