The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated after investigations and random checks that everyone should wash the underside of their cars to get rid of salt buildup from the winter.

Most of the investigation was from complaints and failures on trucks, which they found could be due to salt buildup on vehicles.

No matter what the age of your ride, once winter is over, give your vehicle a thorough cleaning.
Salt does get everywhere, so this isn’t just a weekend wash for your car, this is underneath, and everywhere you think salt can penetrate.
Better to go to the effort of cleaning your cherished ride, than being told at the next service that you have corrosion on some parts and they need replacing due to salt damage.

The prevention is better than cure thing!
