The Grand Tour Features Mustang RTR, Demon and Exorcist Camaro

Season three of the Grand Tour kicked off on January 18 on Amazon Prime with some rather tasty muscle cars. They came in the form of a Ford Mustang RTR Spec 3, the Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and the Hennessey Exorcist Camaro.

Hammond, May and Clarkson take the three muscle cars through a drag race, noise test in an old theatre, then find an abandoned car factory which they turn into their own racetrack. The drag race against the Exorcist and the Demon you can find here which we covered yesterday.

All three vehicles are monsters in their own right. the Mustang RTR was tuned up to 700 HP, the Dodge Challenger Demon 840 hp and the Exorcist Camaro built by Texas tuning outfit Hennessey produces an amazing 1,000 HP, marketed exclusively to take on the Demon. The episode is significant not just because it’s featuring American muscle cars, but also because the show attracts a large European audience, which may not be as familiar with muscle cars as the rest of the world. For any ‘petrol head’ the show at least highlights how muscle cars still have a lot to offer and how power and performance are handled in a very American way.

You’ll have to sign up to Amazon Prime to see the full episode, but what you can expect is the usual multi-locations and a very European centric view of these muscle cars. Hammond has always been a fan of muscle cars both old and new, so no convincing there, but it’s what the other two conclude which will be the most interesting. Clarkson has definitely been a fan of the Ford GT40 in the past, so it’s really down to how Captain Slow – James May reviews these offerings.

All three vehicles are the best of the breed when it comes to muscle cars and arguably give you super car power and performance for a fraction of the cost, amongst many other highlights. Love or hate the show, its definitely worth checking out to see these three vehicles go head-to-head with multiple locations and the finest quality footage.

Episodes of the Grand Tour are also predicted to from now on be more about road trips, rather than celebrity guests and segments in the studio. Good news to those who want to see more car action, than fluff or filler.
