Parking In America: How It Used To Be.

Here is another example of what parking used to be like in cities and towns across the USA.
Easy in, put your penny, nickel, dime or quarter in the meter and walk away. Backing out was a bit more interesting as one had to be very careful, not to just thrown the beast in reverse and back up.

In simpler, much less crowded streets, parking seemed more orderly and there always seem to be somewhere to park.

This shot came from Beverly Hills, California and is also a demonstration of some of the interesting colors of the cars back then. Two tones, tri tones and fins. Big classic dashes with big buttons or levers that you had to slide. Sometimes they were unmarked so you had to know what it was or did. The owners manual was about fifteen pages long at best. Today fifteen pages are used just to show you how to lock your seat belt. The manuals have become lawyered up as we say. But just take a moment and look down the street at the cars. How many can you identify? Did you ever own one in this picture? Doesn’t this picture just make you yearn for those simple times? It does for this old coot.
