The last Chevrolet SS to be built in Adelaide, Australia by GM’s down under division Holden rolls off the production line and makes its way to the United States.

The final vehicle has a black paint job and interior with a six speed manual transmission and has been requested by the final buyer to be signed by everyone who built the car in its engine bay. ‘Just as the vehicle was being produced, the Holden manufacturing team received a request from a US customer, asking the manufacturing employees to sign their Chevrolet SS,’ said a spokesperson from Holden.

Holding had built a total of 12,953 of the Chevrolet SS model for the USA, along with some 7,305 Chevrolet Caprice Police Patrol vehicles (PPV) , which is also on its final build. The final one of these was built with a white paint job.

Chevrolet stopped taking orders for the SS model back in February, and with no plans for a new model, this will definitely be the last one rolling off the production line. The other sad news is that the Holden plant was soon close its doors, meaning that an Australian built GM vehicle won’t be seen again in the US anytime soon.

The company was originally started in 1856 in South Australia changing names a few times over the years to be eventually called General Motors Holden in 2005. On 11 December 2013 holding decided that they would produce any more vehicles past 2017, but would continue to still have a presence in Australia, selling and importing vehicles.
