Muscle Car Stolen As It Stands Still

There’s always more than one way to do anything and it seems the same for car theft.

Anthony Monaco’s 1968 Pontiac Firebird was stolen from his garage, but the thieves stole the title to the car two months earlier. The title to the car was possibly in the glove compartment.
On trying to reclaim the car, Anthony had a uphill battle to prove the car was his after finding long trail of forgery building up to the theft of the car.

“It’s a 1968 green Firebird convertible with a 400 engine, with 2 ram air jets coming out of the hood,” said Monaco. “I bought it out of college. I feel in love with the ’68 Firebird when I was just a kid. ”

The initial shock came when police questioned Anthony about his car ownership.
“(The officer said) ‘When did you sell the car?’ I said, ‘I never sold the car.’ My plan was to keep this car until I was dead. He said, ‘Well, it’s been sold twice. You’re not the registered owner,'” Monaco said.

In late June, he filed a certificate showing he’d sold Monaco’s Firebird for $600. The car was stolen on July 8th.

‘After I send DOL information and asked them to review the case, the state put the Firebird title back in Monaco’s name.’
The car is still missing, but on the positive side, once located, Mr. Monacocan prove the car is his alone.
