Mickey Thompson Interview And 400mph Record Attempt

Marion Lee “Mickey” Thompson to this day it’s still one of the legends of the hot rods scene also having landed many land speed records. He most famously on September 9 1960 broke the 400 mph barrier at an incredible 406.6 mph in his 1959 Pontiac Challenger 1 at Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah. Thompson was up to this point already well renowned in the automobile world in this video is a great insight into the man and his amazing achievements.

The the original broadcast itself is called ‘The Fastest Man of Wheels’ from the ‘Adventure Tomorrow’ show hosted on KCOP from Los Angeles. The original show gives you highlights from his racing achievements, especially from the salt flats attempt with close-up looks at the testing phase along with the run itself.
