As Kiss say at the start of a gig, ‘you want the best, you’ve got the best….’, but instead of the hottest band in the world line, here you are getting some of the hottest muscle cars around going through the auction block. The upcoming Mecum Indy 2018 on May 15-20, has a fine collection of classic muscle cars, along with a plentiful supply of vehicles from other realms. Below is a selection of some of the highlights from the upcoming auction.

With over 2000 vehicles passing across the auction block, it’s good to know standouts from this mass of vehicles. The Rob Blair Collection has both the old and the new with one of the standouts being a 1970 Chevelle 454 LS6 convertible estimated to fetch between $325,000 – $375,000. the collection has two 2006 Ford GT’s, a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 429 Fastback, a 1970 Plymouth AAR Cuda and a 2009 Ford Shelby GT500KR amongst its lineup.

The Richard Cohen Big Tank Collection is unique in having a N03 optioned Corvette for each year of production, 1963 through to 1967, with only two of these vehicles produced in 67. Basically the only collection of its kind. The ’67 is expected to fetch around $475,000 – $650,000.

The Keith Busse’s Corvette Pace Car Collection

Corvette pace cars come up for sale from time to time of different ages, but never in the collection as complete and varied as this one. The Keith Busse’s Corvette Pace Car Collection comprises 16 vehicles, with two official pace cars , one being a factory Pilot Car, ‘four Official Track Cars, five IMS-authorized duplicate pace cars, and a Corvette Pace Car Edition from every year ever offered by Chevrolet, of which four have been Bloomington Gold Certified and NCRS Top Flight award winners.’ All proceeds from the sale will go to the Keith Busse Automotive and Classic Art Foundation the higher education in Northeast Indiana.

Surf City Garage collection
Tim Miller started Surf City Garage to care for his collection of vehicles, which quickly expanded into retail detailing products. 20 of their vehicles will cross the block with standouts such as a few Pontiac GTO’s with one being a 1971 Pontiac GTO Judge Pilot Car, a 1969 Plymouth Road Runner estimate $65,000 – $75,000, a few ’67 Pontiac GTO’s and a few deluxe Woody Wagons if that’s your thing.

There are so many on offer this time around, it’s advisable to check out the complete Mecum line up to see what is on offer, which also includes the Reggie Jackson collection, the Ford Galaxie, lightweight collection and the best of show collection. No muscle car auction would be complete without at least one or two Cuda or Challengers with two nice examples, coming from the Harold Messner both being 1970s Hemis.
