The Legacy Of The Monte Carlo

Boy these models were the rage at one time. Especially when Dale Sr. was alive.
The Monte Carlo had looks but no go for the most part. Many came with a 305 engine and they were nice but average.
I know they made a Tribute Dale Sr. car at one point with fancy paint and graphics. I drove and worked on many of them.
Nice looking cars and very good selling cars whether new or used. But as far as fast muscle cars go there was not much to brag about.
Sure they came with Goodyear Eagle GT tires and a crushed velour interior but mostly it was all show. I know I am hurting a lot of feelings out there but the truth is the truth.
When Dale Sr was killed in 2001 is was like losing Elvis. Every NASCAR race at lap three thousands would put up there three fingers. Dale Jr was to carry on the heritage but has not won a title yet. He is the fan favorite. Currently he is suffering from concussion symptoms and his future racing is in doubt. But as a tribute car this one was a winner.
Let’s hope Junior gets healthy again and can live up to his famous Dad’s name.
