Is Eleanor the Ultimate Muscle Car?

It’s not hard to see why the ‘Eleanor’ Mustang Shelby could be at least one of the contenders for the ultimate muscle car.
The only Mustang to get a title credit in a movie.
Tributes and re-creations have been built ever since and still fetch phenomenal prices.
Mention the word ‘Eleanor’ to anyone who has even a vague acquainted with muscle cars and they will understand what you are talking about.

I can already feel Mopar fans protesting like the opposition in a political race and for good reason. There are plenty of Mopar examples which personify a muscle car more than anything else, but saying something is the ‘ultimate’ is generalizing massively and I think this should encompass what muscle cars are to the average Joe and this is usually the most popular thing.

Films and TV shows have a massive impact on us all and we all get that warm lovely feeling when thinking about films of yesteryear which brought us adrenaline, excitement, passion and enthusiasm. The 1968 film Bullitt, did just this with all the elements needed, plus Steve McQueen helped a little with his Uber cool and Hollywood status!
In the original film the main car chase with a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T, shows Eleanor winning the car battle.
In reality the 68 Dodge Charger could have probably blown the pants off the Mustang, but this is fiction remember, possibly anything can go.

So the film didn’t just help to solidify the legend of the Mustang GT, it cast the car’s status in solid steel, probably in a way that can’t be done now. (remember the Nicolas Cage remake? – good, but not the original.)

Once the car is a prominent feature in a movie or TV show and that movie or show becomes very popular, the car can become as big as the actors themselves.

Moral – lets see more muscle cars in upcoming films, they tend to be remembered……… Bumblebee??
