Car talk: The Farm Is Your Friend

This shot of a farm has many potential treasures to restore.
Lots of old tractor stuff, these two great AD trucks ( AD is advanced design) and some other cars from the late 70’s and 80’s. I live in farm country and I can tell you most farmers throw nothing away. They find uses for things most of us have never thought of. My first barn find came from a farm and they are true down to earth people. It’s basically where most barn finds come from.

If you get to know a farmer well, he or she will be your best friend forever. They usually know all the other farmers in a wide circle and what these farmers have tucked away.
You just cannot go barging onto a farmers land and ask to look in his barn. You might be looking at the end of a shotgun with that approach. No, you need to get to know them and they need to trust you. Speaking of trust, I wish this farmer would trust me enough to let me buy those two trucks.

So, when you are out on the road I would urge you to get off the main highway if you can and take the secondary road. Of course it will take you longer but the beauty alone will pay off. Secondly, you might see something you have never seen before. Lastly, you may make another great friend that may just turn you on to a treasure trove of cars, trucks, tractors and so on. Trust me, it’s worth the effort.
