A Great Barn Find 1968 Chevrolet Camaro RS SS
By David Ashton
Barn find muscle cars come in various shapes and sizes, but rarely do they come in reasonable condition. This is the case with this 68 Camaro which has a 396 V8, four speed manual transmission and looks in reasonable shape.
The ad. itself doesn’t give a great amount of detail apart from it is numbers matching, the car runs and drives and the example images.
The numbers matching powertrain is the big advantage here and although it runs and drives, there is no feedback to the powertrain’s condition.
There’s plenty of surface rust on the engine and transmission going through to a 12 bolt rear end, but driveable can mean anything from it just about goes to it can cover a few miles. If you bought this car, a trailer would be needed just to be safe to transport it.
The exterior of the car has worn well over the years, but there are some rust spots here and there, bubbling in places and paint chips, but you would expect this from a barn find.
The interior is where the surface rust shows the most from the lack of carpet, but everything else here seems in okay condition.
The seats look in great shape, while the dash shows signs of wear which will need addressing, such as some signs of surface rust and splitting.
The other interior shots show the amount of surface rust which shouldn’t be a major job to clean up.
So this Camaro seems in reasonable shape, is numbers matching and is a RS SS model, which means it has all the factors to be a potential priced Camaro.
It’s currently at a buy it now price of $26,000, which kind of reflects everything it has.
It doesn’t have much long on the listing, so if you’re interested, get in there.
