There is no better time to invest in a classic muscle car with the big V8 market steadily increasing in value year-on-year. There are plenty of examples out that the rarest option vehicles will always fetch the most money, but you can still invest in reasonable vehicle and watch its value increase along with enjoying one of the most potent rides from the late 60s to early 70s.

The American muscle car is essentially a mid-size vehicle with a large displacement engine built from the mid-60s to the early 70s with a V8 engine. Here are some muscle cars which may seem obvious or not, which are slowly increasing in value year-on-year.

1969 Pontiac Firebird 400 Hardtop

This 1969 Firebird came with a 400ci. V8 with roughly 330 HP back in the day and was a great rival for the Chevrolet Camaro. Prime examples can reach $50,000+ with project vehicles being anything from $14,000+.

1970 Dodge Charger R/T

The Dodge Charger is arguably the most iconic of the muscle cars and although the prices are rising dramatically, you can still pick up an example from between $40,000 – $93,200 for an R/T model. You can check out its current pricing here.

1968 Pontiac GTO Base Hardtop

The Pontiac GTO was the original muscle car, with a 68 been the second generation version. The styling was more towards the classic muscle car area and featured a 400 cid big block. values of even the base models have gone up dramatically in the last year or so with average models fetching around $20,000 up to anything like $70,000 for quality example. The 1968 Pontiac GTO Judge is possibly one of the highlights of this year.

1968 Mercury Cougar GT-E Hardtop

The Mercury Cougar has a mean looking front and and more luxury than a Ford Mustang of its day. Fitted with a four barrel 427 cid V8 engine, these examples are hard to come by easily reaching hundred and $50,000 in fine condition, but a base model 68 Mercury Cougar will still give you plenty of value for your money.
