An original Ford Mustang Boss 429 is as rare as hen’s teeth, having only been made in 1969 and 1970. Classic Recreations have now released an officially licensed continuation version of the car shown off at this year’s SEMA show.

The original Boss 429ci(7L) was built specifically for NASCAR, where 500 examples of the vehicle had to be built to compete. Because of the huge size of the engine each Mustang had to be modified to fit the engine and doing so a classic was born. Classic Recreations have opted for a fuel injected 514ci/8.4 L V8 with 1,300 pound-feet of torque instead of the original 7 L V8. The engine is expected to make 815 hp, ran through a Centerforce DYAD clutch and flywheel. The engine will also have a modern EFI fueling system, upgraded valve train and ECU.

Each vehicle is expected to take four months to build, with all the work being done in house. Clearly this amount of workmanship isn’t going to come cheap, with each vehicle costing around $209,000.

The continuation vehicles hope to give potential customers the chance to own one of these rare vehicles with the added benefit of a modern chassis and engine technology, along with more power and easy driving experience.

Classic Recreations have already got the go-ahead to build of a classic Mustangs, such as the 1969-1970 Mustang Boss 302 and 1969-1970 Mustang Mach 1.
