1968 ‘Grumpy’ Camaro: Jenkins’ Toy IV by Vicki Bolla

This readers rides was sent in by Vicki Bolla and is probably one of the most notorious racing Camaro was ever.

The car was raced by none other than Grumpy Jenkins, who started his racing career while at Cornell University in 1955.
Grumpy got a name for being a standout engine builder in stock and superstock racing which led him to independently build and run his own Camaro which you see here.

The Camaro was built on December 29, 1966, being possibly one of the first Z/28s to be built.
The car was bought by Jenkins and race prepped for superstock racing.
The car which started life as a 67 Camaro, had many 68 parts added such as the vent windows, trim and headlights.

The car went on to win the pro stock race with a sub 10 second quarter-mile time, but was retired by 1970.
The car past through a few owners until it ended up with the custodians of today, who performed a full restoration job on the car.

It now has a 427 CI engine with the original headers, distributor and other components.
